My bedroom

The best part about moving, in my opinion, is having a completely clean slate when it comes to decorating. After graduating college, I had a lot of time on my hands while completing my summer internship. Post grad was much harder than I anticipated. Going from living with your best friends in a fun college town to moving back home isn't easy. I needed a distraction; something to occupy my time. I decided to completely redo my room. I love a hands on project so this was the perfect distraction for me.
I love an all white room with pops of color only coming from leafy greens and fresh flowers. I also have too many shoes for my own good, so the best way to also add some color was to put them on display. The biggest thing to remember when redoing your room is to have patience. It's hard not to get carried away and want your room finished immediately. However, the trouble with that is you end up spending way more money than necessary. Decorating takes patience. Wait it out until you can find the pieces you're looking for at local flea markets or antique shops. Some may require a little maintenance, but you end up saving money in the long run.

If you're tight on money, try creating a mood board as your headboard. I found this old iron gate at a local antique store. I immediately thought it would be perfect to pin pictures of friends, family or travel using wooden clothespins. All it needed was a little TLC and white spray paint.

I went a little overboard and decided to create a full on mood board so you can no longer see the gate, but I still love how it turned out. If crafts aren't you're thing, you can just as easily replace the mood board with a picture or framed quote blown up. Both inexpensive, cute alternatives to a headboard.

I love adding little touches to my room to make it feel a little more luxurious like this wooden bed tray complete with a french press and mug, ready to go for my morning tea routine. Also, this magazine rack is perfect for all those magazines you have, but never throw away.

Candles and plants are my JAM. Seriously, If I only ever got candles and plants as gifts for the rest of my life, I'd be more than content. They are perfect, inexpensive fillers for when you need some decoration, but don't know what.
