SOCKS AND SNEAKERS

If you're anything like me, you follow a ton of fashion and lifestyle bloggers on Instagram. I love the daily dose of inspiration. Since I can't travel around the world on a weekly basis, at least I can live vicariously through others. I love discovering new travel destinations to add to my bucket list, dreamy kitchens to inspire my apartment with list and kick ass outfits that I can recreate on my own. Often times fashion bloggers wear major labels, ones that I could only dream of affording, and its hard to picture myself recreating their look when I can hardly even afford coffee 3 times a week. But sometimes you just have to get creative. You don't need a $500 jacket to look just like them. One from TJ Maxx will get the job done just fine.
One of my favorite fashion bloggers, Happily Grey, posted this recent picture to Instagram and I was so intrigued by it. Its not a look I'd normally gravitate towards, but for some reason I wanted to give it a try. It's no where near the same, but it has the same idea and thats good enough for me. I took a risk with my look and ended up loving it.

I was able to recreate the look with inexpensive items I already owned. I got this trench vest for Christmas, which was one the pricier side, but all the other pieces I'm wearing are inexpensive staples that you likely already own. A white tee, navy socks, converse and some black jeans (that I cut right before work to give the frayed hem) are staples in my wardrobe. I added a simple and delicate layered necklace to soften the look and kept my hair and makeup minimal.
