TURTLENECKS AND KNEE HIGHS

Growing up, I absolutely hated wearing turtlenecks. I thought they were bulky, uncomfortable, and something only grown-ups wore. Fast forward 20-something years and they're my go-to winter staple. Believe it or not, I still find a use for them in LA, even though the temperatures rarely drop below 50 degrees. Forever21 has a lot of great sweaters and turtlenecks out right now, with lots of oversized, loose fitting options. I bought this sweater from there recently and bought a nearly identical one in winter white.

Turtlenecks can sometimes have a negative association with looking frumpy, so I decided to pair mine with over-the-knee-boots and a leather skirt. However, frayed denim jeans and converse would also be a great look if you're wanting something more casual.
