7 THINGS TO DO BEFORE 7 A.M

1. Limit phone use - Don't immediately go for your phone and scroll through Instagram and Snapchat. Although most of your feed likely consists of friends and memes, there may be something that could trigger a negative emotion. Don't start your day off on the wrong foot or it'll be hard to shake for the rest of the day.
2. Drink up- We all know by now how important it is to drink water and stay hydrated. Drinking an ice cold water in the morning boosts your metabolism and rehydrates your body after hours of sleep. It's the best way to wake yourself up naturally. Try waiting for the coffee until you get to work.
3. Get moving- Maybe your go-to is hot yoga or a run around the neighborhood. Maybe its simply stretching and taking your dog for a walk. Whatever it is that gets you moving, don't stop. Knocking out your workout first thing in the morning gives you such a sense of accomplishment.
4. Make your bed- It doesn't matter how late I'm running, I will always make my bed. It feels good when you make your space look good, so take a few extra minutes in the morning to tidy up your surroundings.
5. Eat a healthy breakfast- Oatmeal or scrambled eggs with veggies is always my go-to breakfast. Both are quick and simple options that leave me full and satisfied. If you're not a morning person and are often rushing out the door, prepare overnight oats in a mason jar or prep some hard boiled eggs the night before. That way, you're not grabbing a sugar-filled granola bar that will only make you crash before noon.
6. Make a to-do list - I live for lists. I honestly have lists for my lists. That may sound crazy, but writing everything down and actually seeing what I need to accomplish for the day and week, is the best way for me to prioritize. Before your day gets hectic and you become distracted with all the work thats to be done at your job, write down personal tasks you need to accomplish and plan out when you intend to tackle them.
7. Talk to someone you love- I call my mom almost every morning as I'm waking into work and I often wake up to a million texts from my best friends because they're 3 hours ahead of me. Just checking in and talking to those you love is a simple and sweet start to your day.
