THE FLOWER DISTRICT

There are 3 things I absolutely adore in life and thats tea, flowy bohemian tops and flowers. Even as a little girl, I always gravitated towards all things green and floral. I spent the majority of my childhood roaming through my grandpa’s garden and watched in awe as he carefully tended to each and every flower’s needs. They were all so different and required such specific care, but when they blossomed, it was as if you were walking into a colorful, vibrant oasis complete with ladybugs and butterflies.

I frolicked through his garden and swung from wooden tree swings, as every shade of green surrounded me in slow-motion. It was my grandpa who inspired my love of art or perhaps it was because of my grandpa that I was born with the ability to create, but either way, it’s something I’m thankful for every day.

To me, flowers are one of the simplest joys in life, which is why I buy myself a bundle each week. I love the smell, the colors, and how it brings a fresh element to my apartment. I heard about The Flower District in DTLA shortly after moving here and knew I needed to make plans to check it out ASAP. Aside from beautiful bundles of hydrangeas in every pastel color and big, beautiful sunflowers, there are tons of succulents and cacti in all shapes and sizes.

My best friends from college came to visit me this past weekend for a Galentine’s weekend reunion so I figured theres no better way to kick off the weekend than some fresh flowers for Valentine’s Day and some mini succulents for the girls to take home (no trip to LA is complete without succulents).

Nothing screams The Flower District quite like a peasant blouse, high waisted Levi’s and messy braids. I love peasant tops and truly cannot have enough. I love the loose fit, dramatic bell sleeves and intricate embroidered detailing. They truly are so comfortable, but they’re also just a great staple piece to have in your wardrobe, even if boho isn’t your go-to look.

They’re also a great versatile piece. I’ll wear a peasant top with jeans, shorts, or overalls, I’m also just as likely to pair this top with a fitted leather skirt for a more night-time appropriate look. However, if I could wear overalls, a peasant blouse, and messy braids all day everyday, I would.
