FAUX FRAMES AND MONOCHROMATIC BLACK

This week, I traveled back home to Chicago to spend a few days with my family and get a little taste of fall. It still feels like full-blown summer back in LA so I've been itching for grey, rainy days and my mom's delicious pumpkin bars. My first day home was the perfect fall day. The weather was cool and overcast; the perfect setting as my sister and I headed to the local pumpkin patch and apple orchard. We shopped the little country mart and picked up all the cute seasonal flavored foods along the way. We also may or may not have had pumpkin donuts for breakfast. I mean, how can you say no to festive, freshly baked donuts? You don't.
We munched on our donuts and sat outside taking in the crisp air and breathtaking landscape. Aside from the donuts, I was really just excited to dress for fall weather. While I live for tank tops and jean shorts, there's nothing that can compare to the feeling you get from wearing a chunky sweater. It has the ability to make you less stressed almost instantaneously.

My whole life, I've always said that my personality is split right down the middle (and I've taken enough Myer Briggs tests to prove it). I'm equal parts introverted and extroverted, creative and analytical, routine and adventurous. It should come as no surprise that my style is also split right down the middle. During the summer and spring season, I'm all about color and bohemian styling. Aside from a few vintage tees here and there, my summer style is strictly feminine.
However, come fall and winter, my look takes a complete 180. I take my vintage polka dot dresses and trade them in for burgundy leather booties, leather studded jackets, and structured blazers. For whatever reason, my style is much more adventurous come cool weather. I'm much more likely to play around with fabrics, silhouettes, and quirky trends; like these black framed glasses.

Growing up, I always wanted glasses. I loved how they made anyone and everyone look that much more sophisticated. I also just loved the idea of adding another accessory to my outfit. Seeing as everyone in my family had them, it only seemed fair I had some too. I bought myself fake glasses from Claire's in the 6th grade and was hooked. Eventually, they broke one day at school and I never looked back. That is until now. Glasses have been making a big come-back lately. From thin, copper wire 70's style rims to thick round tortoise frames, they've been making their way to the feeds of famous bloggers one picture at a time.
I wasn't looking for glasses until I came across a handful of various styles from H&M. I tried a few on, all of which I loved, and decided on these black frames and another style in tortoise While the look is very different, it was a fun way to add a quirky element to my black ensemble. And even though my sister laughed upon seeing me, I for one, am a fan.
